This is a serious Quick Trick-stretch.
But my hope is that this little Quick Trick it will prevent other parents from making the same mistakes that we made just two days ago, when we were hit with three feet of snow.
Okay, and it's also just an admission that we kind of messed up, had our priorities all mixed up, and are trying to be better grown-ups starting today.
You can check it out over here at DC Metro Mom Blogs.
Happy shoveling. . .

Thank you for sharing your creativity with us! :)
While I get what you're saying (time to grow up), I think there is a hidden message there....what kind of message are we sending our kids if every time a "storm" is coming, we run around frantically and hide away from it? Instead, your message says "Jump in!" Grab a sled and enjoy what's coming your way! It's refreshing!
ReplyDeleteBTW - I LOVE your blog, and WeTeach too! Thanks for starting that!
Amy- I enjoyed your post. We were also pounded with that storm this weekend.
ReplyDeleteIt reminded me of a silly backpack I put together and I keep in my closet. We call it our 72 hour kit. It has everything our little family would need for a 3-day emergency. It has a first aid kit, small radio with batteries, flash-light with batteries and a crank operated flash-light that I picked up on a whim at an electronic store). It also has tooth paste, toothbrushes, toilet paper, wash cloths, candles and water-proof matches. I included power bars, canned fruit, canned chili, fruit snacks etc. I tucked in a pair of pjs and undies for each kiddo too. It sits in the top of a closet next to a case of bottled water (also for emergencies). I keep it there just in case a need arises. I always know where it is and it helps me feel a bit of peace-of-mind as a mama. (I keep a similar stash in a lidded tupperware container for our car in the winter...just in case.) :)
with the 10+ inches we are going to get tomorrow, you'll get your chance to be prepared!
